I was inspired to paint an abstract of corals based on our great barrier reef which sits on the outskirts of my mother's country. On weekends when the tide is out I would go to the beach with my family and gather scallop shells that live amongst the coral and rocks. And we would cook them on the fire once we had enough to share with each other.
