Yalanji Art Centre
Training was provided 'in kind' by Black Square Arts in support of local arts development. Pre-prepared screens with the new Yalanji Arts Logo were used for demonstrations and T-shirts were printed for each arts worker/artist.
The workshop included information and discussion on colour mixing; the type of ink/paint to use for different printing applications; choice of correct mesh size; expected print numbers from an image and registration for repeat processes.
Participants learned about the general care of screens and the chemicals and processes required to reclaim screens that have been in use for some time. Health and safety issues were covered and all participated in the cleaning process.
Feedback from participants was very positive. Everybody enjoyed the interaction with Charlie and all learnt new skills as well as updating existing ones.
All Arts-workers are now familiar with basic screen printing principals and have an understanding and practice in the care and maintenance of the equipment.
This will contribute greatly towards the multi-skilling of our art workers so they have the confidence and skills required to work across all mediums and manage all areas of the art studio.
It is with enormous appreciation and many thanks to Black Square Arts that we received this workshop and we look forward to an ongoing relationship with Charlie and the team at B.S.A.
